About SmallCapMovers
Daily AI-powered analysis of Russell 2000 and S&P 400 stock movers — the small and mid caps the big sites overlook.
What we do
SmallCapMovers automatically tracks every Russell 2000 small cap and every S&P 400 mid cap stock listed on NYSE and NASDAQ. After every US market close, our pipeline identifies stocks that moved more than 5% on above-average volume, fetches the latest news from Google News and SEC EDGAR 8-K filings, and generates a 220-260 word analysis explaining the move.
Big financial sites cover Apple, Tesla, and Microsoft in depth — but the 2,400 small and mid cap stocks that frequently move 10-40% in a single day get almost no dedicated page-level coverage. SmallCapMovers fills that gap.
How analysis is generated
Every page is written by an AI fallback chain — OpenRouter (Gemma 3 27B) as the primary model, with Google Gemini 2.0 Flash as a backup if the primary is unavailable. Prompts include the stock's actual price action, volume context vs. its 30-day average, 52-week range, the day's S&P 500 / Russell 2000 / sector ETF performance, the most recent news headlines from trusted publishers, and any SEC 8-K filings from the last 48 hours.
We deliberately avoid generic boilerplate. Every analysis is grounded in specific numbers and the actual news of the day, and we explicitly instruct the AI to avoid phrases like "market participants" and "ongoing dynamics" that signal generic content.
